Columbus coffee roasters named 2nd

A Columbus-based coffee roaster recently took home some hardware on one of the largest stages possible.

Crimson took second place in the Small Franchise category at the Golden Bean North America awards this year.

Billed as the “world’s largest coffee competition,” the Golden Bean offers is held on multiple contents, and fielded more than 700 entrants this year.

“We are still on cloud nine after coming in 2nd place for Small Franchise Roasters in the largest coffee completion in the world,” a statement posted to Crimson’s social media accounts reads.

The local coffee submitted their NARSA Natural single origin beans, Wayfarer Blend and Crimson Espresso, each of which earned a silver medal. The contest’s Small Franchise category is one of three Overall Champions of the Golden Bean awards, alongside the Overall Champion and Large Franchise champion,

Theory Coffee Roasters in Redding, California was named first place in this year’s Small Franchise category.

“It really validates the hard work that not only are stateside employees put forth, but the amazing amount of work that goes into producing just a single pound of specialty coffee; from farming to processing to milling, it still amazes me that we’re able to get such wonderful coffee,” said Crimson’s director of sustainability Brandon Bir.
