John Wayne Casserole Recipe: A Ground Beef Casserole Recipe Courtesy of The Duke

Jun 17, 2023Jun 17, 2023

Casseroles are so easy to throw together during the week, and can be reheated easily for leftovers. A win-win. This John Wayne Casserole recipe is simple to make and a hearty dinner, just as you'd expect from The Duke.

John Wayne was born Marion Robert Morrison in 1907. While there are many stories out there about why his nickname was The Duke, most are not true. John Wayne actually got his nickname because of his beloved dog, Duke, when he was a kid.

"There've been a lot of stories about how I got to be called Duke. One was that I played the part of a duke in a school play, which I never did. Sometimes, they even said I was descended from royalty! It was all a lot of rubbish. Hell, the truth is that I was named after a dog!" pic.twitter.com/3yRwyT0Wq6

All you need to make this casserole is ground beef, taco seasoning, refrigerated biscuit dough, sour cream, mayonnaise, onion, cheddar cheese, red bell pepper, a tomato and pickled jalapenos. Serve this ground beef recipe with a fresh vegetable or salad on the side.
